We are the owner's of Malta & Co and realize that some reviews posted on yelp and other similar websites are simply not true. Our office is not in any legal dispute regarding an issue for "incorrect billing" as one review states. Most of the negative comments posted are likely attributed to other comments posted about our company and Prop 8. For the record, you will notice that as of 11/14/08 Malta & Co does NOT appear on the hrc.org list as supporters of Prop 8, as they too have corrected and have acknowledged the mistake that has been explained here on Yelp as to what happened. Malta & Co., Inc. is a real estate sales and property management company operated by our family in San Francisco, since 1975. In May of 2008 our mother, who is the office bookkeeper, erroneously made a donation to the Yes on 8 Campaign, pursuant to a request by a family member who is gay. My mother made a personal $100.000 donation, as well as a $100.00 donation in our company name to the Yes on 8 Campaign, believing at that time a "Yes" vote meant we were preserving marriage rights for all Californians. We started receiving calls a day before the election from No on 8 supporters, and my mother realized her mistake. We immediately made a donation for $200.00 to "No on 8", but that will not take our company off of the Yes on 8 donation list. We also believe that many voters who voted well in advance of the last minute campaigning were confused and erroneously voted yes, just as my mother erroneously donated to the yes campaign early on. Since the Yes on 8 campaign will not refund us our money, we shall regrettably remain on their list of supporters, and we sincerely apologize, as it was NOT our intention to support discrimination, as people that know us first-hand are aware. Malta & Co. Inc. does not support Proposition 8 and strongly believes in equal rights for all.
